Lady Falcons Blowout Welch
GALLATIN, Tenn. - The Florida College Lady Falcons defeated the Welch College Flames 12-1 on Saturday afternoon.
It was their third game in three days (in three different states).
The first half saw goals from four different players. Hannah Garcia scored first, assisted by Michaela Nicholson. Jennifer Luna slammed a penalty kick straight to the back of the net. Michaela Nicholson brought in the next goal assisted by Cassidy Coffman followed by another goal for Jen Luna assisted by Kat Llanos. Nicholson then scored twice, assisted by Hannah Garcia and Kiara Romero. Next came third goal for Luna, assisted by Ariel Navarette. Kara Webb followed a shot by Nicholson off of the post, sending the Lady Falcons into the half with a score of 8-0.
The Falcons scrambled the field for the second half, sending senior center-backs Shelby Lovett to the Wing and Cassidy Coffman to Striker. Lovett scored a perfect high shot into the goal assisted by Coffman. Tori Fullagar, the Falcon's Keeper, then moved out of the goal and into the striker position. The Flame's only goal was scored at this point. Next Coffman scored a goal, assisted by Jennifer Luna. Then Michaela Nicholson sprinted the entire field to score yet again, assisted by Kat Llanos. Brianna Luna wrapped up the game with an arcing shot, bringing the score to 12-1.
"This game was an excellent opportunity for the team to experiment new tactics and have some fun while maintaining a competitive atmosphere," stated Kara Webb.
"I'm proud of these girls for coming out and playing their third game in a row with heart and skill. It's been a good weekend for us," said Head coach Joanie Dilbeck.
