Lady Falcons Play to Hard-Fought Draw at Piedmont

DEMOREST, Ga. - The Florida College women's soccer team tied with Piedmont University 1-1 on Thursday.
Both teams took an equal amount of shot attempts in the first and second halves, with 11 in the first and six in the second. The Lady Falcons had one more shot on goal than the Lions, but were unable to put up an extra point on the board to secure the win.
Piedmont's Elissa Lotter put the Lions on the board first with a goal in the 62nd minute assisted by Christina Sierra. Lady Falcon Victoria Fonseca tied up the match with an assist by Yaritza Vasquez in the 80th minute to score her fourth goal of the season. Both teams went scoreless the rest of the match, securing a tie to finish out the game.
Goalkeeper Jillian Francis posted five saves on six shots on goal by the Lions.
"Tonight we showed resilience in the face of adversity. We didn't give up and pushed through. I'm proud of the team we are evolving into, now we move forward," said head coach Joanie Dilbeck.
This tie puts the Lady Falcons at a 2-5-3 overall record.
