HIALEAH, Fla. – The Florida College Women's Soccer team lost a close match with the Florida National University Conquistadors 1-0.
This game started out in the Lady Falcons' favor as they earned two corner kicks in the first three minutes, but neither came of anything. In the sixth minute the Conquistadors, on their first attack of the game, found the back of the net on a strike from Gabriela Bortolon Brito assisted by Natayla Laura Paula. Florida College would ramp up the tempo and outshoot Florida National University five to four and took three corners, but were unable to find the back of the net in the first half.
The second half would see more of the same for both teams. The Conquistadors stormed out of the gates in the second half, but unlike the first half were turned aside and could not double their lead. The Lady Falcons would continue to fight hard trying to get even. They fired six shots in the second half and had eleven across the match. Continuing to fight to the very end, it felt like it was only a matter of time before this game was even again. Florida National was able to divert the constant attacks from Florida College and were able to hold on and win 1-0.
