TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. - Middle Georgia State University defeated the Lady Falcons 2-1 on Monday night.
The Knights took over Qualls Field and kept possession of the ball the majority of the match, only allowing the Falcons to take nine shots, with three on goal. Middle Georgia took nearly 30 shots, with many barely missing the net throughout the facedown.
Middle Georgia's Taylor Shields made the first goal of the night in the 34th minute, assisted by Chloe Davies.
Lady Falcon Claribel Hernandez scored her fifth goal of the season with an assist by Sky Ledin.
Lina Schimmang secured the game winning goal early into the second half to secure the win over the Falcons.
"We are a young team learning how to work together. Our attitude and work ethic were great today. We did some good things and also identified some weaknesses to work on. I'm confident that we are on the path to success," said head coach Joanie Dilbeck.
This loss pushes Florida College's record to 0-3-1. The Lady Falcons will play in an exhibition match at the University of South Florida on September 7 at 7:05 pm.
